Deep cleans with steam are recommended for the face before washing to soften dirt and grime. Steaming too often, though, can dry out the face and cause the skin to become brittle and rough.

For cleansing your pores, you have options like masks and peels, but be sure to use them according to the manufacturer’s instructions so as not to get injured or burned by using the products improperly.

Unlike steaming your face, using hydrating masks can help make your skin softer than ever; however, be wary of overdoing it with them because those products are a little harder on your skin than plain water. We don’t want you getting hurt in the process!

Steaming Your Skin

1.Wash your face with your favorite cleanser.

To start:

To get the best benefit from your steam, we suggest that you start by washing your face.

Your pores will become unblocked, and the steam will penetrate deeper into them, allowing for the effective removal of dirt and oils from within their depths.

You may not want to use steamers if you have dry skin or are prone to rosacea as it could worsen the clean clogged pores.

2.Fill a large stockpot with water and heat it to a boil.

  1. Find a large pot – the kind you would cook pasta or soup in.
  2. Fill it about 2/3 of the way full with water and set it on high heat on the stove.
  3. Once the water is at a rolling boil, turn down the heat and add either rose petals for their calming smell or lavender rosemary if you have either of those on hand.

3.Place the pot on a heat-safe mat or folded towels.

If you happen to have a separate pot containing hot water, try placing that underneath the pot containing the food.

This will all depend on your situation – you might want to put the hot water in another room of the house and use it in conjunction with whatever counter space you may already have nearby.

The most important thing is internalizing safety. Just make sure to wear oven mitts and be careful as possible when handling these hot pots!

4.Drape a towel over your head.

Take a large cotton towel and drape it over the back of a chair so that it hangs down to your shoulders, just like in picture 3.

Then lean into the towel so that half of your face is covered as pictured. This method works by allowing more steam to be absorbed into the towel – making it feel more than twice as hot when you go to take off the towel after 5 minutes!

5.Hold your face as close to the steam as you can for 5-10 minutes.

Sit back on the edge of your bathtub or kneel in front of your sink. Drape a towel over either side of your face and hold it in place with one hand.

Keep the top of your head just above water by sitting back on the edge of your tub/kneeling closer to the countertop if desired (ensure the floating device is nearby).

Continue until beads of condensation appear on the inside of the covering, typically after 5 to 10 minutes, but some prefer more vigorous steaming sessions. If you’re uncomfortable holding this position, place a chair in the corner of your bathroom or kneel directly in front of the sink.

6.Wash your face again with a gentle cleanser.

Steaming your face is an ancient skin care method that has been around for years, and it’s now being reborn into the modern day with its advantages of cleaning out pores and pushing impurities to the skin’s surface where they can easily be rinsed away.

To make sure that after you steam your face, the impurities won’t work their way back into your pores, follow up with a gentle cleanser.[2]Try using a mild, unscented face wash for this.

7.Moisturize your face to counteract any dryness caused by the steam.

Waxing removes all the unwanted hair in just one quick treatment. Now, any straight-edged edge can help with the process — you could use a pair of sewing scissors, maybe even a utility knife if it’s made of something sharp like ceramic or metal.

I’ve even heard of people using paid warm wax to do their own at home treatments before.

However you choose to remove the hair from your face, once you’re done steaming and cleaning your pores, it is important to moisturize afterwards so that your skin doesn’t dry out.

And because of that feature, everyone had their share of problems applying it properly and evenly. Just spray some water on your face beforehand and make sure there’s water on both sides of the sheet if you’re using paper strips instead.
